{"id":2,"date":"2022-01-21T20:08:52","date_gmt":"2022-01-21T20:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/utopian-studies.org\/conference2022\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2022-08-15T15:41:43","modified_gmt":"2022-08-15T15:41:43","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/utopian-studies.org\/conference2022\/sample-page\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>make, unmake, remake<\/h3>\n<h4>November 10th-12th, 2022<\/h4>\n<h4>Society for Utopian Studies<\/h4>\n<h4>Embassy Suites Charleston Historic District<\/h4>\n<h4>Charleston, SC<\/h4>\n<h4>#SUS2022<\/h4>\n<p>We invite creative and scholarly responses to our conference theme&#8211;&#8220;make, unmake, remake&#8221;&#8211; with a particular interest in panels that offer interdisciplinary approaches to shared questions in utopian studies, including those that speak to post-pandemic life and renewal.\u00a0 Topics might include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;&#8220;tinkering towards utopia&#8221; vs. large scale utopian plans<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;arts and crafts, &#8220;craftivism,&#8221; and sustainability<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;reparations for slavery and other historical atrocities<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;utopian labor; labor in dystopian times<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;building from the ashes \/ post-disaster and post-apocalyptic re-building<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;utopia as apology and social repair<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;revision, recursivity, play, and experimentation in utopian thought<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;hope in dystopian times<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;preparing, preserving, rebuilding, resilience<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; local responses to global change<\/p>\n<p>We encourage scholars and practitioners from\u00a0<strong>any academic field<\/strong>\u00a0to contribute, as well as architects, city planners, artists, and musicians whose work relates to\u00a0<strong>utopian thought and possibility, and dystopian realities and visions<\/strong>. Members of intentional communities are also welcome to attend and\/or present.\u00a0<strong>Non-theme related papers are welcome<\/strong>. The Society has been interdisciplinary since its founding in 1975.
